Hey besties!
I have so much to share with you today because… I just did my first EVER interview as a teen contributor for a magazine- and not just any magazine… It's actually my mom’s magazine, Ask Us Beauty.
I’ve spent the last four years watching her prepare for interviews, write articles, and even once she let me sit in on one of her big celebrity chats. I sat quietly and watched…but recently, I had been thinking: why not try it myself?
I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to talk to my generation- teens who are doing cool things and inspiring others. And guess what? I finally got my chance. My mom said I could have my own column in her magazine so I had my first official assignment!
Not gonna lie, I was soooo nervous before the interview. My heart was racing, my palms were sweaty, and I kept thinking, What if I mess this up? But my mom gave me the best advice: just start with a smile and say hello. She told me, “It’s not about having all the right words. The person on the other end is nervous too. It’s about connection. Think of it as a fun, casual conversation. Listen and be interested.”
So I took a deep breath, smiled, and said hello. I let the conversation flow. And it was SO fun! Once we got started, my fears went away (mostly). We connected, laughed, and I learned so much, not just about her, but about myself too. I realized interviews don’t have to be scary. They’re just real normal conversations. When you can relax and focus on getting to know someone, the nerves start to disappear.
Can you GUESS who I interviewed?!
A Few Clues:
She has over 800k followers on TikTok
She’s honestly one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met
She’s an Artist, Actor and Model
She gives amazing advice to teen girls about confidence and self-love
Any guesses?!
You’ll have to follow me and stay tuned. This was just the beginning, and I can’t wait to do more.
If you’re nervous to try something new, just remember: everyone gets scared - but courage is doing it anyway.
Until next time…
xoxo,
Carson
